Benefits and Services
When a federal government agency needed to overhaul its week-long Benefits and Services course, I was brought in to redesign the program into a cohesive, instructor-led learning experience. Guided by the ADDIE model, I reviewed legacy materials, facilitator scripts, and participant handouts to pinpoint where learners were overwhelmed by complex policy language and struggling to see how benefits connected to their personal transition decisions.
I then restructured the content into a series of modular sessions, drafted detailed instructor and participant guides, and built in practical exercises, scenario discussions, and tool walkthroughs to help learners apply information about health care, disability compensation, education, and employment to their own situations. Using Microsoft Office, I created slide decks, facilitator notes, activity worksheets, and checklists that supported consistent delivery while still allowing instructors to tailor examples to their audience.
Stakeholders appreciated how the updated design made a dense topic more accessible and actionable, and noted that both advisors and learners found it easier to navigate benefits conversations from start to finish.
